Thaddeus Gibson Information

Thaddeus Gibson, OLB, 6-2, 243, Ohio State. Second converted defensive end taken by them in the past three picks. LB coach Keith Butler said team was impressed with his improvement as 2009 season progressed. Fourth-year junior (redshirt as freshman) and Cleveland area native. Started 23 games at Ohio State, split between left and right end. four sacks last season.

Chris Scott, a 6-41/2, 320-pound offensive tackle from Tennessee, became the Steelers first choice in the fifth round of the draft today. Scott has been a three-year starter for the Volunteers.

The Steelers traded their second choice in the fifth round to Arizona in the trade that brought cornerback Bryant McFadden back to Pittsburgh. They had acquired that fifth-round choice, No. 155 overall, in the deal that sent Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets.

They have two more picks in the fifth round, two in the sixth and one in the seventh. The Steelers tapped another linebacker with their first pick in the final rounds today, Thaddeus Gibson of Ohio State, in the fourth round. Thaddeus Gibson played defensive end for the Buckeyes but at 6-2, 242 pounds, he will be converted to linebacker with the Steelers, the second linebacker of their first four draft picks.
