Mass Save Rebate

Mass Save Rebate: The Mass Save Great Appliance Exchange, which starts Thursday, offers mail-in rebates to replace old, inefficient home appliances with new, energy efficient models. Mass Save Rebate For retailers like Ray’s Appliance in Taunton, the program is expected to give a needed boost to sales, which have suffered since the economy went into a tailspin in late 2008.

“It’s a win-win,” said Bob Worsley, who owns and manages the store. “You’re getting a more energy-efficient appliance and you’re getting reimbursed for it.” Worsley, however, is concerned that there may not be enough funding for the Great Appliance Exchange to keep up with demand for the rebate program.

The Mass Save program, which has $6.2 million in funding from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, offers rebates ranging from $50 to $250 on appliances including refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dishwashers. Because funding is limited, rebates will be dispersed on a first-come, first-served basis.
